Welcome to Landmark Surveys LTD
Landmark Surveys Ltd (LSL) was founded by Murray Roddis, July 1994 and has been operating as a single extremely efficient and high tech survey crew for the past 15 ½ years. Landmark Surveys Ltd is easily recognized by our white 4x4 crew cabs and our signature deck mounted custom stainless steel 6x6 ATVs. Over the past 15 years, and more than 22,000 GPS field hours, LSL has achieved a number of firsts in the Alberta civil surveying, engineering and road building industries.

LSL purchased the first high precision GPS system Spectra Precision Geodimeter sold in Canada in November of 1994. Also in 1994, LSL was one of the first companies in Alberta to use the Geodimeter 4000 Robotic Total Station. In 1995, LSL was the first commercial survey company in Canada to use RTK GPS by Spectra Precision. In 1996 Landmark Surveys Ltd, became the first survey company in Alberta to successfully utilize RTK GPS for Construction Layout and Quantities Surveying on Alberta Transportation's Hwy 88 north of Red Earth, AB. In 2001, Spectra Precision became part of Trimble Navigation International, allowing Landmark Surveys Ltd to look to new technologies under the Trimble banner, a banner adopted by 75% of the world navigation market.
Innovative Technology
With GPS/GNSS systems becoming main-stream in the surveying field, LSL was looking for a new direction in technology to maintain their cutting-edge provider niche and purchased the first Trimble VX Robotic Spatial Station sold in Canada in March 2007. With its built-in video camera and scanning capability, it is the Cadillac of Robotic Total Stations bursting with an impressive array of technological advancements to open up new and exciting applications for the civil surveying industry.

In 2009, Landmark Surveys Ltd became the first company in Canada to implement the Trimble Connected Community technology allowing managers to remotely see from their offices more than a 100km away, what field data is being collected or laid out by LSL, in real time via mobile internet connection.

Skilled Professional Survey Crew

In late 2009, Landmark Surveys Ltd became a proud sponsor of the Cansel Can-net VRS system providing real time base data to RTK surveyors across Alberta. In addition, in 2009, LSL became the first company in Canada to purchase the Trimble GX Tablet which allows real time processing of spatial imaging data streams. 2010 will see the continued adoption of Trimble scanning systems to augment LSL'S current broad range of GNSS and Spatial Imaging solutions.

Recently in 2009, LSL embarked on a new corporate image strategy that includes the addition of more survey crews while remaining the leading provider of Innovative survey technologies and custom designed survey solutions in Alberta.
